Policies & Expectations.

Parent Viewing

Only parents of new enrollees may view the first 10 minutes of the first attendance. The gym area is a safety zone — parents are asked to remain outside while waiting for classes to end.

Communication

Parent meetings are announced via email with reminders sent by WhatsApp. Parents wishing to speak to a coach or administrator should do so before class sessions start, or wait until after class sessions have ended.

Accounts & Statements

Statements of account are issued monthly and all accounts are expected to be up-to-date. Gymnasts may have access to class blocked for unpaid arrears.

Progress Feedback

Report cards or feedback information are provided at least two times per year.

Health & Body Care

For athletes of any sport, caring for the body is a top priority along with the right type of training — the body is the engine, and it needs the right fuel. We recommend a food plan high in green vegetables and low in sugar, and lots of water in place of sugary drinks where possible. Junk food and fast food are banned on the premises of the gym, and minimal or no consumption outside the gym is encouraged. There are absolutely no peanuts allowed on the gym's premises, as some students have allergies.

Sleep & Hygiene

A minimum of 8 hours of sleep daily is recommended for growing athletes. Good hygiene practices are recommended, and leotards should be cared for according to proper washing instructions after each use.

Anti-Bullying Policy

Bahamas Star Gymnastics strongly discourages negative behaviour that creates discomfort for another individual — unkind words, invading personal space, inappropriate physical contact, or other offensive actions. Our approach begins with improving understanding of boundaries and how they are to be respected; a discussion with parents and gymnasts is sometimes sufficient, while in other circumstances a warning and/or suspension may be the best course of action. In extreme cases, for legal and other reasons, a gymnast may be expelled or asked to leave the program. In the event of suspension or expulsion, no refund of fees applies.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked.

If my gymnast attends only 1 class for the month, what is the tuition fee?
The minimum monthly tuition fee is $110 and applies for 1 class. Please read this alongside the tuition tables above, which set the monthly minimum at $110 for new registrants and $100 for returning registrants — tuition is otherwise based on the number of classes within the calendar month.
If my gymnast does not attend class for a month, will our account be charged?
No, the account will not be charged — accounts are charged based on attendance. A minimum of $110 is to be paid based on the number of classes anticipated in the month. At the end of the month, if a fee was paid, it will roll over to the next month of attendance. There are no refunds.
If I pay for 5 - 8 classes but my gymnast attends fewer than 5 classes, what happens to the difference?
The account is adjusted for the difference. New registrant: $140 paid for 5 - 8 classes but 1 - 4 attended ($110) — $30 deducted; $175 paid for 9+ classes but 1 - 4 attended ($110) — $65 deducted; $110 paid for 1 - 4 classes but 5 - 8 attended ($140) — $30 added; $110 paid for 1 - 4 classes but 9+ attended ($175) — $65 added. Returning registrant: $125 paid for 5 - 8 classes but 1 - 4 attended ($100) — $25 deducted; $160 paid for 9+ classes but 1 - 4 attended ($100) — $60 deducted; $100 paid for 1 - 4 classes but 5 - 8 attended ($125) — $25 added; $100 paid for 1 - 4 classes but 9+ attended ($160) — $60 added.
Does the daily rate apply if my gymnast only completes 1 class for the month?
No. The $35 daily rate applies to clinics, gymnasts visiting from abroad (islands other than New Providence or other countries), and other special sessions. It does not apply to regular monthly classes.
What should my child wear to practice?
Athletes should wear a leotard or fitted shirt with biker shorts, and slip-on/push-in footwear (slides or crocs). No pants with buttons/zippers, tutu or skirt attachments, hair ornaments, or tennis-laced shoes. See our full dress code above.
How do I know when my child is ready to move up a level?
Coaches evaluate athletes continuously and will discuss progression during quarterly reviews. You can also schedule a private meeting to discuss your child's development.
What is your makeup policy for missed classes?
Please contact us directly at bah.star.gym@gmail.com or (242) 819-7827 as soon as possible if your athlete needs to miss a class, and we'll help arrange next steps.
