Policies & Expectations.
Parent Viewing
Only parents of new enrollees may view the first 10 minutes of the first attendance. The gym area is a safety zone — parents are asked to remain outside while waiting for classes to end.
Communication
Parent meetings are announced via email with reminders sent by WhatsApp. Parents wishing to speak to a coach or administrator should do so before class sessions start, or wait until after class sessions have ended.
Accounts & Statements
Statements of account are issued monthly and all accounts are expected to be up-to-date. Gymnasts may have access to class blocked for unpaid arrears.
Progress Feedback
Report cards or feedback information are provided at least two times per year.
Health & Body Care
For athletes of any sport, caring for the body is a top priority along with the right type of training — the body is the engine, and it needs the right fuel. We recommend a food plan high in green vegetables and low in sugar, and lots of water in place of sugary drinks where possible. Junk food and fast food are banned on the premises of the gym, and minimal or no consumption outside the gym is encouraged. There are absolutely no peanuts allowed on the gym's premises, as some students have allergies.
Sleep & Hygiene
A minimum of 8 hours of sleep daily is recommended for growing athletes. Good hygiene practices are recommended, and leotards should be cared for according to proper washing instructions after each use.
Anti-Bullying Policy
Bahamas Star Gymnastics strongly discourages negative behaviour that creates discomfort for another individual — unkind words, invading personal space, inappropriate physical contact, or other offensive actions. Our approach begins with improving understanding of boundaries and how they are to be respected; a discussion with parents and gymnasts is sometimes sufficient, while in other circumstances a warning and/or suspension may be the best course of action. In extreme cases, for legal and other reasons, a gymnast may be expelled or asked to leave the program. In the event of suspension or expulsion, no refund of fees applies.
